Belinda finally got rich. She no longer has to work and wash dishes anymore. She wanted to go have a proper spa. She was not even 30 years old yet. Her life has only just begun. She wanted to be compensated for all the grievances and injustice that she once suffered.
Belinda did not return that afternoon and night.
The morning the next day, Belinda, who had returned, seemed like a changed person. She was dressed luxuriously and was exuding the air of nobility all over her body.
She did not even look at Vincent directly. She only shot a glance at him from the corner of her eyes. "You better not lose your temper with me and don't even think about divorcing me. It's impossible for me to get married again in this life because no matter who I was to marry, I will be afraid that he will be coveting my money. Since I don't want to marry another man anymore, then you certainly are the best candidate to be my husband. However, don't you stop me from having fun! If you dare to, I definitely will ruin your sister!"
That remark truly frightened Vincent. He was not afraid of anything but Helena's happy life really being ruined by this crazy woman. This crazy woman truly could do anything.
From that day on, Vincent became even more sorrowful than before. He was no longer fond of that house anymore. He kept heading out early and returning late, and he just kept immersing himself in his studies every day. As for what Belinda had done or what time she came home, he did not ask about it at all. He lived his life like the walking dead.
However, there was something that made him feel relieved as well. His sister, Helena, has gotten into a relationship and found a pretty good place for her internship. His brother got married, and both his brother and his wife loved each other very much. His brother’s wife was even pregnant. He was going to have a niece or nephew in the near future. Life was still good.
Sometimes when Vincent was alone, he would think about all these and tears would well up in his eyes. If his sacrifice alone could bring about happiness to his brother and sister, then it would also be worth it. Therefore, even if Vincent knew that Belinda was fooling around out there and getting involved with different men often, he also felt very numb.
He never loved her, to begin with. He had never shared a bed with Belinda as well. It did not matter to him at all if she wanted to get with any men out there. He would not be upset, much less get jealous.
However, he was getting lonelier and lonelier on his own.
When he was almost graduating, because Vincent had outstanding grades and was honest and reliable, he was asked to stay back to teach. When he received such excellent news, Vincent did not look happy at all. He really could not be happy.
Helena saw how abnormal he looked. She then called out to him at the entrance of their college's administrative office." Vincent, this is such a happy matter, but why are you still so dejected? What exactly is on your mind?"
Vincent, who could no longer hold it in anymore, told Helena about everything that had happened during that time.
After he finished, Vincent sighed and said," Helena, this is how my life is going to be. However, as long as you, as well as Wymond and his wife, are doing well, I will be very satisfied. Just live your life well from now on, got it?"
Helena, however, cried. Tears kept streaming down her face as she looked at Vincent. "Vincent, that boyfriend of mine is fake!"
"What?" Vincent looked at Helena with confusion.
Helena smiled miserably, "In order to not to let you worry, I found a person to pretend to be my boyfriend. I told him very clearly, and he also agreed to help me. There's nothing between us. We are just normal friends. If you’re happy, I will give you my blessing. However, you’re not happy now..."
There was a pause before she plucked up her courage and said, "Vincent, I only have you in my heart."
