"I am a jerk. I'm simply a jerk. I'm the jerk of all jerks in this world…" Marcus kept saying.
Just like that, with one crying and scolding while the other tolerated as much as he could, both of them kept going back and forth for two hours like that. In the end, Yvonne was so tired that she fell asleep. Marcus gently put her on the hospital bed. He then gently put the covers on her. It was when he looked at her face closely that he realized he could actually still tell that this was Yvonne. Her sleeping posture, some of her actions, and some of her micro-expressions and looks were all Yvonne. It was just that her appearance was different.
In fact, no matter how a person changed, those kinds of expressions that were done subconsciously could not change. He just kept observing his wife in great detail. It had been four years. She did not return for four long years. She was finally back, but she was not acknowledged by her whole family. All of her loved ones, her parents and her husband, almost pushed her to the brink of death. How could Marcus not feel regretful? How could he not be pissed at himself?
Marcus raised his hand and stroked Yvonne's forehead. However, the moment his hand touched her forehead, Yvonne, who was in a dream, suddenly frowned. "It hurts. I'm in so much pain. Marcus, stop hitting me. Don't hit me. I'm in so much pain. Marcus…
"No, no, no. I'm not Yvonne. I've made a mistake. I'm not Yvonne…I am Mila. From now on…from now on, I won't ever bother all of you anymore. I'll leave now. Don't…Marcus, don't abandon me. Marcus, I just want to be by yourself as a servant…Marcus, don't ignore me, alright? Marcus, I'm begging you…" She sobbed.
Yvonne cried with extreme sadness in her sleep. She was not hot-tempered at all.
She curled into a ball like a homeless child and kept muttering while sobbing. "It hurts. My ribs hurt. It's so painful…"
Looking at Yvonne like that, Marcus's guilt was beyond measure.
He raised his hand and punched the edge of the bed aggressively while cursing himself, "Marcus, you jerk! Jerk! Jerk!"
He hit himself over and over again. It was to the point that he was bleeding from the back of his hand. Yvonne was woken up by him as well. She had a nightmare. In the nightmare, everyone abandoned her. She fell into the abyss and felt extremely painful all over her body. However, all of her family ignored her, and they kept pushing her down the abyss. It was then she suddenly woke up in fright.
When she saw Marcus bleeding from the back of his hand, Yvonne felt so heartbroken and she hugged Marcus' hand in her arms. "Marcus, what are you doing? Don't treat yourself like this. I…I will feel heartbroken, Marcus. I will feel heartbroken."
"Have you forgiven me?" Marcus asked while cradling Yvonne's face.
Yvonne shook her head. "I've never blamed you. I've never…"
"Yvonne!" He immediately embraced his wife. Both of them hugged each other tightly.
The couple did not say anything. All of the grumbles, resentment, and everything were reduced to nothing. Both of them were still of one mind. Nobody could separate their hearts. Even if Yvonne's face was no longer the same as before, even if Yvonne's voice had already changed, it would be fine as long as her heart remained the same. Their love and their relationship as husband and wife have nothing to do with appearances. The only thing was that Marcus still could not understand what the hell had Yvonne and him done wrong that God had to punish them like that, separate them for four years, and let his wife suffer all of the miseries on earth.
Why? What the hell have they done wrong? However, could he hate God? He could only hug his wife and swear secretly in his heart that he would never ever be apart from his wife again in this life.
"What are you two doing? How can you not care about your image at all?" Suddenly, a stern voice could be heard criticizing them from behind.
