Sabrina did not know how to respond to the question she was asked.
The sentence itself made no sense!
She asked, "What pendant? You've only given me clothes to wear for the past few days but not jewelry."
Was he trying to extort her?
She did not steal any pendant of his!
Sebastian's frigid tone did not change. "I'm asking about the pendant from six years ago!"
This left Sabrina speechless.
Before she left South City six years ago, she had left that pendant together with Aunt Grace's remains. Sabrina had wanted the pendant to symbolise herself, and so she left it there to keep Aunt Grace company. A t that point, it was the only thing that Sabrina could d o for her. 1
After pausing for a moment, Sabrina said, "I would have forgotten about it if you hadn’t brought it up. I tried to return it to you six years ago, but you didn’t accept it then. You even said that I should be the one t o keep it since your mother gave it to me, so why do you suddenly want it back now?"
At that moment, Sebastian felt like he had just been rebuked by Sabrina, and did not know how to react.
However, it still made him angry!
Misunderstanding Sebastian seemed to be a hobby of hers.
As he had already said so six years ago, Sebastian did not plan to go back on his word and ask for the pendant back. It was a present from his mother to Sabrina, so he had no right to ask for it back. He had only asked her about it because he wanted to let her know that it was incredibly valuable. In fact, it was worth far more than the rewards that were stated on her initial contract.
He had just wanted to ask where the pendant was. 2
If it wasn't around, then where had she sold it off to?
