The relationship that Sabrina had with the Lynn family had always served as a painful memory for her. It was a scar that she did not wish to reveal so easily.
However, it was by no means something to be ashamed of.
Despite Marcus' invitation, Sabrina did not go with him to the coffee shop. Both of them now stood on the main road outside the entrance of the company. Sabrina had planned to give him a simple account of her relationship with the Lynn family, because she wanted to go home quickly to find out what Aino had done at the Ford household.
"Before turning twelve, I lived in my hometown, which was on the outskirts of a small county. My parents made a living there by growing vegetables in greenhouses. During the slack season, my dad would also deliver goods at a warehouse.
"When I was ten years old, my dad, while working at the warehouse, was crushed to death when some of the goods fell onto him. During that same period, my mother became ill and did not recover for the entire year.
"Even after that, she never really got better, and her body would always be in a vulnerable state.
"However, as I did well academically, my mother had
wanted me to continue with my studies. So two years later, she brought me to South City.
"That was my first time being in such a large city.
"I never really understood the relationship that my parents had with the Lynn family. Without explaining, my mother brought me to Lincoln’s home and pleaded with him and his wife to let me live with them, just so that I could have a proper place to study.
"Lincoln was reluctant to do so, with Jade even more opposed to the idea. However, for some reason, they ended up taking me in. Since then, the Lynn household became my foster home.
"My mother would come visit me every six months.
"However, she would never come to see me at the Lynn residence. We often met at my school, where she would talk with me and leave me with some money before leaving for home.
"During the winter and summer breaks, I would also g o back to my hometown, helping my mother with selling vegetables. 1
