Sabrina glanced at Linda momentarily, before picking up a pile of documents that she had finished proofreading. She then walked over to Linda's desk, saying straightforwardly, "Linda, I’ve finished proofreading these. Here you go."
Linda simply grabbed the documents and stared at the person standing in front of her blankly.
Sabrina continued, without beating around the bush," Linda, I'm going to eat my lunch now, and will review the rest later. Since there’s not too many people in the cafeteria now, I’ll head there first, so that I won’t get stared at later."
Linda sneered at her, "Sabrina, it seems that you know how to survive now."
Sabrina smiled slightly at the sarcastic remark. "You have to learn how to adapt in the workplace. I'll get going now."
Before Linda could get in another word, Sabrina turned around to leave the design department.
Just as she walked out, a group of her colleagues started to mumble to themselves almost immediately.
They all had expressions of pity and disappointment o n their faces, as if they’d just missed a good show.
"Hey, it seems that Ruth's scheme won’t work."
"What's the rush? Sabrina hasn't noticed the trick yet, and just wanted to go for lunch earlier. When she returns, we’ll get to be entertained, haha." 1
"Don’t you think Ruth is taking this too far?" one of them asked worriedly.
"What are you afraid of? It's not like we’re the ones playing a trick on her! She only has herself to blame for offending Ruth."
"If something happens, we’ll get in trouble for not reporting it." 1
"Hey, let's stop discussing this. We’ll just pretend not t o know anything. Regardless, we can't afford to offend Ruth." 1
The staff members stopped talking before glancing at Sabrina's chair simultaneously.
They knew that everything would be fine for them as long as they didn’t get involved directly, but deep down, they still longed to see Sabrina humiliated.
Meanwhile, even though Sabrina had said that she was going to the cafeteria for lunch, she actually went to the administrative department upstairs instead and called for Yvonne.
