"A very important phone call? Should I go up to ask for the money from him?" Sabrina considered for a moment before giving up and decided to wait for him downstairs instead. Sabrina thought that it must have been something he didn't want anyone to know if he went all the way to the top floor for the call. She was right, Sebastian did not want Sabrina anywhere near him when he was on that call.
Ten years ago when Sebastian was exiled overseas, the second lady of the Poole Family, Emma who had just turned eighteen, pursued him passionately.
However, Sebastian was on the run at the time and had no interest in romance. Furthermore, he disliked the arrogance and selfishness of wealthy young women like Emma so had therefore rejected her multiple times. When that didn't work, Sebastian escalated to verbal insults in order to be rid of Emma's persistent pursuit. Needless to say, Emma was heartbroken and remained so for a year or two afterwards, when she finally gave up on Sebastian. 1
Every time when Sebastian gathered with Alex, Alex would poke fun at him saying, "My cousin is still head over heels for you."
"That cousin of yours is an Emophilia! I, Sebastian Ford, would be caught dead before falling for an Emophilia like that!" Sebastian commented mercilessly before his sworn brother.
Alex was practically shrieking with laughter at his friend's misfortune. "Even if she really is an Emophilia, you couldn't just say it out loud! I have a reputation to keep, you know? Aren't you even worried the slightest that I would be mad at you?"
"As if." Sebastian smirked.
"On a more serious note," Alex patted Sebastian on the shoulder and deadpanned, "Emma is an Emophilia alright, but go easy on her for my sake. It's not like you are going to marry her, so Emophilia or not, it won't really affect you. Okay? For me?"
Sebastian nodded in agreement, "Her being an Emophilia has nothing to do with me. I don't have time to go around spreading rumors about her anyways. Relax!"
Alex had asked for Sebastian's mercy at the time because though he was not at all close with his cousins. Any incident involving a Poole would bring shame to the family and Alex fully intended to prevent that from happening.
When Sabrina had brought up Emma's name in front o f Sebastian, he had thought that she heard rumors concerning Emma and interrupted her by asking her not to bother herself with it. He was calling Alex in hope to get an explanation on how Sabrina came to know Emma.
On the other end of the line, Alex was shocked by what he was hearing. "I swear to you, Sebastian, I've never even talked to your precious wife privately, not t o mention telling her about your ex-girlfriend Emma."
"Well then, why would she mention Emma's name to begin with?" Sebastian muttered in confusion.
"No idea," Alex replied, "I will check with Ryan when I have the time to see if it was that brat who mentioned something to Sabrina. If it really was him, I will get him to shut his mouth."
"Okay! That thing about Emma, just make sure Sabrina wouldn't find out about it," said Sebastian.
"Jeez, Sebastian, who would have thought a man as fearless and as powerful as you would be so afraid of your own wife?" Alex teased.
"Shut it!" And with that, Sebastian hung up. He went downstairs and he found Sabrina waiting for him.
"What's wrong?" He knew that something was on her mind from the minute he went to pick her up from work. Understanding a woman's heart truly was as difficult as searching for a needle in the ocean, especially a woman as stubborn as Sabrina, and so he decided to wait for her to come forth instead. 2
"Um." Sabrina swallowed nervously. "The parent group from Aino's kindergarten is going to organize a small party and everyone is required to...chip in." 'That's it?' he thought, finally realizing where her mind had been wandering to.
