He responded by taking her into the study room with his arm around her. He went to retrieve a card from the drawer before handing it to her. "There's five million, the pin is your birthday."
"Fifty thousand dollars is enough, I don't need this much," Sabrina muttered.
"This was meant for you as a form of compensation," h e explained. The card was the one that he intended on giving Sabrina, but was later rejected by her six years ago after his mother Grace Summer had passed.
Compensation? Was it for the manipulation and insult she was about to face at the hands of Emma? Was he paying her five million ahead of time for the suffering she had to endure? ‘That's not too bad, I guess,' Sabrina thought. 'As long as I live through it, the five million is more than enough for me to finally go back and visit my mother's grave. What's left can be utilized for many things, at least Aino could keep it as an insurance for her future.’
"Okay." She swiftly took the card and turned to leave.
Sebastian pulled her back from behind with his arms around her waist and whispered, "Do I not get a thank you for giving you such a big present?"
Sabrina leaned back against his chest and murmured, "Aino is still playing in the playroom. Why don't you g
o and spend some time with her? I'll go and put the card somewhere safe, then after Aino is asleep..." Her face flushed before she could bring herself to finish.
Sebastian smirked and pulled her even closer by the waist, landing a brief kiss on her petal-soft lips before heading over to the playroom to keep his daughter company. Sabrina took the chance to reply to the messages from a few mothers of the kindergarten while Sebastian took Aino downstairs for a walk, writing back to say that she would be submitting her share of fifty thousand dollars tomorrow. She apologized for overlooking the messages and promised to check the messages in time in the future. After that was done, she went to the bathroom for a bath. If she was destined to doom tomorrow, she might as well take the time to relax in a bubble-bath while she still had the chance. She spent a long time i n the water and even treated herself to a facial mask. She admired her reflection on the bathroom mirror before stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body, only to find Sebastian already waiting outside the door. 1
That night, he was relentless and refused to let her rest. He woke the next morning to catch a flight at six thirty to Kidon City when Sabrina was still deeply asleep. It wasn't until Aino came banging on the bedroom door that she woke up to feeling as though she had been stepped over by a herd of elephants. Sebastian was already gone. She immediately left the room while Aino followed closely behind her.
"Mommy, mommy, do you know what daddy is doing? " Aino asked in a mysterious tone.
"Mommy has no idea, does Aino know?" Sabrina played along and pretended that she was clueless.
"Of course I do!" Aino grinned smugly.
Suddenly, Sabrina's phone rang and when she went to retrieve it, she found the display to be an unknown number. "Hello? Who is this?" she said into the phone. A voice came through the speaker that was somehow both familiar and strange to Sabrina.
"Sabrina, if you dare to skip work today, I am going to chase you down and drag you out wherever you're hiding! Don't blame me then!" The voice was oozing with arrogance and Sabrina's heart sank immediately. 1 "Are you...Emma Poole?"
