"My, my, aren't you good at familiarizing with people," Emma drawled casually. "We have only spoken once yesterday and immediately you managed to recognize my voice. If you are this good at familiarizing yourself with people and are capable of getting all the men of the South City elite community to be brothers by sharing you six years ago. Why on earth would you pretend to be ordinary in front of Aire, flaunting how everything is beneath like a peacock in heat?"
Emma was apparently skilled in the art of insulting someone, but Sabrina was not affected. "I will go to work as per usual, let's continue this conversation then!" And with that, she hung up. Her daughter was standing right next to her and the last thing Sabrina wanted was for Aino to realize that her mother was in conflict with someone. She squatted down to look Aino directly in the eyes and asked, "Why don't you tell mommy what daddy is doing?"
"Daddy is going on a business trip for a few days and won't be home until then. You didn't know this, did you, mommy?" Aino answered proudly.
"No, mommy didn't know." Sabrina shook her head and continued, "but how did you find out about it, Aino?"
The fact that she knew something that her mother didn't had Aino's pride swelling as she responded,'
Daddy told me last night, he told me to take good care of mommy while he is gone. He said mommy is a sleepyhead so I should wake you up in time. Daddy also asked me to give these keys to mommy."
Aino passed a set of keys to Sabrina. Sabrina immediately recognized it to be the car keys for the car that Sebastian had bought for her not long ago and felt a lump in her throat at the storm of emotions that washed over her.
"Daddy said that mommy is going to take Aino to kindergarten these few days and he is going to buy new toys for me in Kidon City, I'm going to have so many new toys!" Aino added.
"Congratulations, Aino, I'm glad that you will be getting new toys." Sabrina smiled gently.
After breakfast, Sabrina was once again reminded of how sore her body was when she went to change, and decided to put on a cotton shirt with a pair of loose jeans in the walk-in closet like she did a few days ago. The outfit was simple and casual but she thought comfort should be the priority for her considering the state of her body.
It wasn't until Sabrina went out and saw the car when she remembered that Sebastian had left it to her to drive Aino to school. But with the soreness that ran through her body, she was hardly fit to drive with how inexperienced she was with driving. For the safety of both Aino and herself, she finally decided to take the bus instead. Aino was more than happy to comply, as travelling by public transport was a brand new experience to her. Back in Ciarrai County, her mother used to drive her around in her scooter and ever since they had arrived in the big city, her father sent her to school by car every day, so she had never had the chance to step foot in a bus before. Aino kept looking around with sheer excitement until the bus stopped at a station close to the kindergarten.
Aino spotted Susan as soon as she got off the bus and immediately screamed, "Susan, Susan!"
Susan, too, saw Aino coming and waited patiently for her, still holding her mother's hand.
Aino looked up at her mother with joy in her eyes and said, "Mommy, Susan is so nice to me. When daddy comes home with the new toys, I want to give Susan half of them. Is that okay, mommy?"
"They are your toys, it's completely up to you who you want to give them to. Of course mommy wouldn't say n o to that," Sabrina replied with an encouraging smile. Seeing how happy her daughter was had made Sabrina more determined than ever to participate in the gathering of the mothers. She knew deep down that grouping up against a poor mother wasn't right, but she had to prioritize her daughter and avoid doing anything that could lead to Aino being left behind. There was no telling where Sabrina would end up and so she had to focus on helping Aino adapt to the new environment as best as she could. At the same time, she had also made the decision that she would only join the gathering, but would definitely not participate in bullying the struggling mother.
Sabrina took Aino's hand and walked towards Susan and her mother with a polite grin. "Hi, Susan's mommy, I have brought fifty thousand dollars with m e today. Do we hand them in to the group leader together, or...?"
Susan's mother seemed to be struggling with her response as she scanned Sabrina from head to toe.
