Sabrina stood protectively before Yvonne with a bitter smile on her face. "Just do it, whatever makes you happy. I won't run off with whoever comes to my rescue. Do it."
Sabrina closed her eyes and stood as she waited for Linda to strike. Many of her colleagues who were at the scene couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards Sabrina at her words. It was normal for colleagues to encounter conflicts with one another during their daily operation, that was a part of the office dynamic. But there had never been conflicts so severe that warrant a public beating with the sole intention of destroying someone's face. Most people had always despised the kind of person Linda was, and some decided to leave as they couldn't bear looking at the cruelty that was about to unfold before them.
Linda, on the other hand, had only grown more vicious. She resented the fact that Master Ryan had his eyes on Sabrina since day one, she resented Sabrina for not pointing out the mistake on her blueprint even though she noticed it right from the start and she resented Sabrina for having the nerves t o blackmail her into paying her a hundred thousand. Most of all, she hated how a country girl like Sabrina, who was nothing but a prisoner held by Master Sebastian, managed to crawl her way into becoming Linda's boss. It might be cruel to destroy someone's
face, but Linda knew that taking an initiative to hit Sabrina would win her a place next to Emma in the elite community. If she succeeded, wealthy men would be lining up to marry her, and who knows, she might even have the chance to win the heart of the King of South City. After all, she was helping Master Sebastian punish his prisoner, too. 1
Seemingly satisfied with her plan, Linda stuck without further hesitation and the shoe on her hand connected with Sabrina's cheek.
"No...!" Yvonne cried out, but her hands were held in place tightly by Sabrina.
The burning pain spread instantly across Sabrina's cheek, which swollen up like a fermented bread dough. Her ears were ringing as blood was drawn at the corner of her mouth.
The office had fallen into dead silence at the merciless strike, and Emma was the only who seemed amused and pleased.
"Oh my, Sabrina!" She laughed triumphantly. "That was amazing! Too bad there isn't any mirror around, d o you have any idea how you look right now? I mean, I have seen faces that were out of proportion before, but you just take it to a whole new level! One side of your cheeks is sucked in and the other is poking out, you look horrendous! Ahahaha, this is fun, so much fun! Linda, keep hitting! Don't hit the good side, hit her on the same side. I'm going to take a picture later, this is more fun than I've imagined!"
Sabrina gritted her teeth and scowled. She did not need to be reminded by Emma to know that she looked awful. She tensed with her eyes shut, waiting for the next strike. Judging from the strength of the first blow, she knew it would take no more than five strikes for her face to turn into mush as they said.
Tears scrolled down her cheek, stinging the wound. 0 n the other side, Linda was ready to strike again with a n expression so ferocious that it was almost animalistic.
"Stop!" An authoritative voice roared from the entrance.
Linda thought that it was yet another man from the office who had come to Sabrina's rescue and did not bother looking in the direction.
"Which one of you idiots came to play the hero to rescue the damsel in distress now? Oops, excuse me, Sabrina here hardly counts as a damsel anymore with that face now, hahaha!" In the midst of her crazed laughter, a cuff appeared around her wrist that was holding the shoe.
