Mia was propped up in her hospital bed when the doctor pressed on Mia’s legs, asking, “What did you do today?”

Mia pursed her lips. “I overexerted myself, stood for too long.”

In Molly’s ward, Grandma Aubree of the Byrne family couldn’t sleep. She loved to wander around.

The hospital was dim except for the emergency department. The elderly like Aubree were always attracted to where the light and people were. Recognizing Mia, Grandma Aubree, dressed in a floral gown and black lounge pants, asked, “Mia, what brings you to the hospital?”

Mia tensed up, glancing at her parents and then back at Grandma Aubree. “Grandma Aubree, I’m okay, just a bit of swelling in my legs.”

The doctor, having already examined Mia, turned to Madison and said, “During late pregnancy, the fetus grows rapidly. While exercise is important, long periods of standing and sitting should be avoided. If you stand for too long, you may experience lower limb edema.
