Women might not sweat the small stuff about cars, but guys definitely do. Mr. Calder was no exception. His meticulous attention to his outfit and his impatience were evident to everyone around.
As Leo was washing his car, he called up his mom, "Hey, Mom, I'm picking up Anya tomorrow. What should I bring this time?"
Naomi strolled into the garden, "Tea and wine are essentials."
"I've given those before. I need something fresh, can't keep recycling the same gifts," Leo said, leaning against the car.
Naomi suggested, "How about a silk scarf for Mrs. Calder?"
Leo shot that down immediately, "No way, I can get something for Anya, but for my future mother-in-law? Just can't do it."
"Come on, just pick a gift, Leo."
"Alright, but it's tricky. Mom, what did Uncle bring when he came to propose to Jade?"
Naomi consulted an old booklet for some long-distance advice.
Armed with suggestions, Leo headed out for some shopping.
The whole Cedillo family was home, fully aware of Leo's efforts to win over his future in-laws. Mia, holding her little one, who was mostly interested in eating, ruffled his round head, "Sweetie, your brother's got the hang of courting and bringing home a bride. When's your turn?"
Henry was busy tasting the remnants of food on his hand from his dad's plate.
Andre chimed in, "Let him toddle around instead of carrying him everywhere; he'll end up with short legs."
Mia, patting her son's chubby legs, set him down, watching him cling to her, refusing to venture off.
Mia sighed, "He can't even toddle properly, let alone bring home a bride. He'd probably trip her up."
Henry, determined, climbed up his mom's knee and started nibbling.
Andre stepped in, lifting Henry by his clothes and setting him down by the couch, unsupported except for the couch itself.
Frustrated, Henry began to wail.
Molly was about to scoop him up when Hansen pulled her back, "Let him figure it out, especially in your condition."
With that, Hansen stood up, "I'll hold him."
Andre, guarding Henry, declared, "Nobody's holding him."
Hansen sat back down.
After a bit, Henry, with his diaper cushioning him, plopped down, unharmed.
Seeing his son's determination, Andre chuckled with pride, "My boy's got smarts."
Just when Henry was close to succeeding, Andre picked him up and put him back at the start, making him cry even louder.
Leo, still on the phone with his mom, caught the crying, "Hey, Mom, what's up with the little guy?"
Naomi chuckled, "Your uncle's teasing him. The kid finally reached Mia, and then your uncle put him back to learn walking. He's not happy."
Leo laughed, "I miss that little guy. Once I bring Anya back, let's have her hold him. Oh, and about those calcium supplements you mentioned, can pregnant women take them?"
Naomi replied, "No, they're for our age group. Why do you ask?"
"Just thought about getting some for Jade as well."
