Naomi was catching some Zs, when Mia gently tapped on her shoulder, whispering, “Naomi.”

Naomi woke up to find Mia and Andre there. She asked, “Why are you guys here so early?”

Mia put some food on the table and sat next to Naomi, “Andre and I got here early so you and Bruce can take Leo home and get some rest.”

“We’re fine.”

Naomi gave Mia and Andre a once-over, and checked Mia’s hands and feet quietly. She was relieved to find nothing wrong.

Mia noticed Naomi’s little maneuver and smirked.

She was such a considerate woman.

“Don’t worry, Naomi, Andre didn’t lay a finger on me. He couldn’t take me even if he tried.”

Naomi felt relieved at that, “I had a dream that you and Andre couldn’t make it.”

“That’s a dream, not a reality.” Mia laughed.

Once inside the room, Andre kept his eyes on the old man lying on the bed but didn’t ask anything.

Being his wife, Mia knew Andre was worried and asked, “Naomi, how was dad last night?”

Naomi explained, “He was much better after getting an IV and painkiller last night, but the pain came back later. He had to get another shot to be able to sleep.”

Andre glanced at his wife.

She spoke the words of concern that he wanted to say but couldn’t.

“Let’s not wake dad up. You and Bruce go home and get some rest. Andre and I will stay here and handle everything.”

Naomi shook her head, “You and Leo are too young to take care of someone. Andre is always busy and he’s not good at caregiving either. You guys should go home.”

Mia firmly replied, “No way, it’s our responsibility to look after dad when he’s sick. I may be a bit clumsy but there are a lot of nurses around during the day, I can ask them if I don’t know something.”

Naomi kept insisting, but Mia firmly refused.

Andre also said, “Bro, you should go home with Naomi. You guys have been up all night, you can’t handle it. Mia and I can help out.”

Bruce took a look at his exhausted wife and finally nodded in agreement.

Bruce and Naomi went home and found Leo sleeping on a chair outside.

The couple gently told their son, “Leo, come home with us and sleep.”

Leo woke up startled and followed his parents home.

Only Mia and Andre were left in the hospital room.

Considering Hansen’s status, the doctor was only taking care of him so there was no morning rounds.

In the room, the doctor had come once, found him sleeping, and left.

Andre left with the doctor, before leaving he told his wife Mia, “Mia, call me when my dad wakes up. You’re not great at caregiving, I’ll do it.”

Mia pouted and said, “Honey, I may not be good at caregiving but I can learn. I'm a little embarrassed that you said that in front of the doctor." Andre wore an indulgent smile, looking at the doctor’s retreating figure he said, “I only told you after the doctor left, don’t worry, only I know.”

After saying that, he shut the door and hurried after the doctor to ask about his father’s condition.

Mia was left alone in the room, killing time.

She got up and walked around, even got bored enough to start examining the plants in the room.

Perhaps knowing his wife would be bored, Andre came back with two bags of snacks, all of them were the kind that kids liked.

Mia looked at the snacks in his hand and asked, “Honey, who did you buy these for?”

Andre said, “I don’t eat them, and my dad can’t eat them, who else is there in this room?”
