"A few years ago, I met a girl. She was also having a mole on her back, and it was in the same position as yours. Tell me, Nancy, are you that girl?" Charles whispered in Nancy's ear.
Nancy was shocked and tried to calm herself down. "Charles, do you have paranoia or hallucinations? How on earth it could be me? We have known each other for less than a year!” She tried her best to sound lighthearted, but at the same time held her breath inwardly.
Charles pushed her away gently and looked into her eyes intently. "Really?"
Nancy nodded. "No, Charles, it wasn't me!"
Charles didn't ask any more questions. He took the unfinished painting and said, "Nancy, finish this painting for me. I want to see what your painting looks like and whether the woman in it is the same as I imagined!"
"But I'm afraid I can't draw well enough..." said Nancy.
Charles smiled. "Don't refuse, alright?"
"Okay, let me have a try!" She had no choice but to agree.
"Nancy, I know you can draw. You're a good painter. Don't try to fool me, okay?"
She felt a little scared as she sensed the ferocity in Charles' eyes.
"Let's go, honey. I've already prepared the dinner. Let's have it!" Charles said in a gentle voice, putting his arms around Nancy's shoulder.
However, no matter how gentle he was, there was a hint of uneasiness in his voice.
This feeling made her a little uncomfortable. Did he find out something?
Should she tell him the truth?
She was struck in a dilemma.
During the meal, Charles ate very quietly. Occasionally, he picked up the goblet and gave a toast to her. Because of her panic, she spilled the red wine several times.
Charles frowned and complained, "In my impression, you are a steady-eyed female doctor who performs surgeries with utmost precision. What's wrong with you today?"
"I, I... Maybe because I was a little scared at that time and haven't recovered yet from my foot injury." She quickly found an excuse in her defense.
"Well, then have a good rest tonight. You will be fine tomorrow," Charles said softly.
"Yeah, I hope so," Nancy said.
She had a good sleep that night.
She woke up early in the morning.
The time was already past six o'clock.
'Well, Charles shouldn't have got up at this time!' she thought.
She walked into the kitchen and wanted to cook, but she was stunned by the scene in front of her.
What was it?
Well, the kitchen was waterlogged.
"Oh my God! What should I do now?" She guessed that the tap must have been opened when Charles was cooking and he might have forgotten to close it last night.
Facing so much water, she was at a loss.
Now, she had to go to Charles.
She trotted to the door of Charles' bedroom. In a hurry, she forgot to knock and broke in directly.
As soon as she got in, she shouted out of breath, "Charles, get up and check the water in the kitchen. What should we do now?"
Charles was still asleep and didn't hear her words at all.
So he nodded in a daze.
"Wake up, Charles!" Seeing that Charles hadn't woken up yet, she walked towards his bed.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes and realized that Nancy was walking towards the bed. Thinking that he was naked, he lifted the quilt in a hurry and buried himself in it.
She was anxious. How old was Charles? Why did he still like to play this?
