The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 376

Sorrow came upon Doris when she saw the old, sick woman lying on the bed. Slowly, she walked over and whispered, "Auntie..."

The old woman smiled bitterly, "Doris..."

They hadn't seen each other in so many years. Suddenly, Doris didn't know what to say.

So much resentment seemed to have disappeared when she saw the miserable condition of her aunt.

"Doris, I know you still loathe what happened in the past. You still hate Felix. But if he didn't do that, Samuel would have found someone to kill you. Your safety was the result of Felix kneeling at the gate of the Liang family all night and day..."

"Mom, it is all in the past. Why are you still bringing it up?" Felix interrupted his mother.

Doris was confused. What was her aunt talking about?

Didn't Felix testify against her on the witness stand? Did he do all that for her sake?

"Felix, what's going on?" Doris asked him in a trembling voice.

"Doris, don't listen to my mother's nonsense. Samuel wasn't killed, and you didn't commit any serious crime. It's enough that you had been imprisoned for a year. Now, the two of you better find something else to talk about. I'll go prepare dinner." As soon as he finished his sentence, Felix hurriedly left.

At this time, Nancy had returned home.

Edward was playing with the children in the yard, and Charles hadn't come home yet.

"Nancy, you're back?" Edward stood up and greeted her.

The two kids were playing with their heads down. They didn't appear to notice her. It seemed like as long as Edward was there, there were no mommy and daddy in the children's world.

"Yes," said Nancy in a low voice.

"Do you have something on your mind?" Edward couldn't help but ask.

The expression on Nancy's face suggested that something had happened. Otherwise, she wouldn't seem aloof.

She would have played with the children or at least greeted them hello.

But today, she lowered her head and walked hastily. He could tell that something had happened.

Edward suspected that it was either about her marriage with Charles or a problem at the hospital.

He hoped that Nancy would treat him as a friend and open up to him like she did before.

"Edward, it's nothing. I'm just a little tired after playing with Doris the whole day. I need to take a shower..." said Nancy with a forced smile.

"Okay. I already prepared dinner. Come down after taking a shower so we can all eat together," Edward cheerfully told her.

"Oh, okay." Nancy proceeded to walk into the villa.

Thinking about her marriage with Charles troubled Nancy, but right now she felt restless more because of Doris.

Her friend was taken away by Felix. She had no clue as to what happened next.

She felt so anxious because if Jay called her to ask about Doris' whereabouts, she wouldn't know how to respond.

Fortunately, Jay hadn't called her yet.

However, as soon as Nancy thought of this, her mobile phone rang.

When Nancy saw the caller's name on the screen, her hand trembled and the phone almost fell to the ground.

"Jay, how come you have so much free time today that you thought of calling me?" asked Nancy guiltily.

Why was Jay suddenly giving Nancy a call?

It could only be because he couldn't get in touch with Doris.

Ever since Charles told him about Doris' old flame Jay couldn't help but wonder every now and then.

He used to wonder why Doris wouldn't stop bringing up topics about his ex-girlfriends even though they were already part of the past.
