When Nancy stepped out, Rick stood still in a daze. His eyes followed her until she pushed the door and went out. Then she got into the car.
Sitting in the car, Nancy noticed Rick was still looking at her. She smiled and waved at him.
The shyness in her eyes immediately made Charles feel jealous.
Charles felt that Nancy was dating another man. Her shy expression was similar to when the first time a girl dated a man.
He gritted his teeth and glared at Rick.
Rick drank up the coffee in his cup and walked out lazily with a satisfied smile on his face.
Staring scornfully, Charles watched Rick and his assistant as they got in the car and drove away.
He started the car slowly and went home.
Nancy had returned home.
To her surprise, Charles' car wasn't parked in the yard. She told him to pick up the children earlier. Where had he been?
With the packing bag in her hand, Nancy quickly walked into the living room. She saw the fast-food left on the table. The children were lying on the ground and playing building blocks with Hiram.
"Where is Charles?" Nancy asked angrily.
"Wow! Mommy is back? Mommy, didn't you say that you would pick us up? Why didn't you come?" Nadia jumped up and ran towards her mother.
"Mommy has... A surgery," said Nancy guiltily.
"Mommy, you always break your promises. It’s not good, understand?" Bobby, who was still lying on the ground, raised his head, pouting.
"It's because of my job. Mommy can't keep her words sometimes. I'm sorry, kids," Nancy apologized sincerely.
"Mr. Fu said that he will come back a little later tonight. It's because he has something urgent to deal with." When the children had finished talking, Hiram grabbed his turn to speak. Honestly, he had no idea where Charles had gone. When Hiram was about to go home after work, he received a call from Charles. He asked him to pick up the children. Hiram couldn't cook, so he had to buy dinner for them.
The children were eating happily. They seemed that they enjoyed takeout food.
"Something urgent to deal with? Why didn't he inform me?" asked Nancy in confusion.
"Well, maybe Mr. Fu didn't have the time to tell you. Don 't think too much about it. It’s normal that Mr. Fu has something urgent to deal with. I’m used to it." Hiram shrugged and smiled awkwardly.
"Well, have you had dinner?" Nancy changed the topic.
"Yes, I bought fast-food for them. The children have already had dinner. What about you, Miss Ning? Have you eaten yet?" Hiram asked, staring at Nancy with burning eyes.
When Charles was on the phone this afternoon, his voice was tensed.
Except for Nancy, Hiram really couldn’t think of any person who could make Charles nervous.
Therefore, he was also very curious where Nancy had gone.
"Not yet." Of course, Nancy couldn't say that she had had dinner already. If so, she might have exposed that she hadn't had an operation that night.
"Mommy, the chicken burger bought by Uncle Hiram is very delicious. You should eat one too. Come on." Hearing that her mother hadn't had dinner, Nadia offered her food.
"Nadia, Mommy's hands are still dirty. You can play with Bobby first. Mommy will wash hands and eat some," said Nancy with a delicate smile on her face.
"Mommy needs to eat a lot of food. If you're full, you will have the strength to tell us a bedtime story later!" Nadia said cheerily.
She loved the feeling of being in Nancy’s arms. It was very warm and comfortable.
