Although Joseph was close to being devoured by desire, he was still aware that if he did something now, Daisy would leave him.
Once she left, she would never come back.
With this thought, Joseph used his remaining strength to push Fannie away. "Get out!"
Knowing that the drug had already taken effect on him, how could Fannie leave? It would be a waste if she didn't go on with her plan.
A famous playboy like Joseph was always surrounded by a lot of women, and scandals about him had never stopped.
Why was he pretending to be abstinent now?
Therefore, Fannie came up to him again.
As much as Joseph wanted to leave, he was too weak to do so. So he just struggled to get away from Fannie. "Fannie, hold on for a moment. I just have to make a phone call, and then I will spend the night with you."
To his delight, Fannie was stupid enough to easily believe his lies.
As a matter of fact, she had always been a fool who believed in men's sweet words. That was why she believed whatever Caspar said before.
Now, she made the same mistake by trusting Joseph without noticing the look on his face.
She was lying on the bed, waiting for him to be done with the call.
It didn't even occur to her that he was going to call the police station.
It was just a quick call, so Joseph directly told the police that he was being harassed by a woman in the hotel.
Before the dinner party downstairs was over, several policemen rushed in. It had only been five minutes after Joseph called, and the police were quick to take action.
"What happened?"
"I don't know. Did someone commit a crime?"
"It is impossible. Who can commit a crime in such an occasion?"
Everyone was confused. They came up with different speculations in their minds.
The police went upstairs and found the room which Joseph told them.
Clueless about what was about to happen, Fannie was still dreaming about her future in a daze.
So when the doorbell suddenly rang, she was shocked.
"Joseph, who is it?"
Instead of answering her, Joseph sneered and struggled to open the door.
"Sir, it's her. Please send me to the hospital as soon as possible. I can't hold on any longer." The police could tell that Joseph wasn't lying, based on the look on his face and his wet clothes.
The fire in his heart was getting stronger and stronger, and he might be devoured at any time.
If the police came a few minutes later, he couldn't guarantee that he would've refrained himself from making a mistake.
Now, he just wanted to see Daisy.
It was only because he didn't want Daisy to hate him more that he was trying his best to be sane.
Joseph wanted to say something more, but he blacked out.
On the other hand, shock was written all over Fannie's face.
"Sir, I didn't do anything. I'm just a fan of Joseph. Please don't come closer. I'm not dressed yet!" Fannie clutched the quilt tightly and shouted hysterically.
