The Adorable Twin’s Sticky Daddy novel Chapter 700

For an unknown reason, fear crept into Jay.

It was as if whenever he was in front of Eva, his whole body was plunged into darkness and pain.

He was like a bird whose throat was strangled that could die at any time.

It was so suffocating that Jay badly wanted to escape.

"Jay, please light the candle for Eva." With an indifferent expression, Pam handed him the lighter.

"Okay." Maybe it was because Jay was so nervous that it took him two attempts before he finally lit the candle.

"Great! Now, I want to make a wish." Like a child, Eva clapped her hands excitedly.

"Make a realistic wish, such as being healthy, being able to stand up early, and helping Mommy manage the company and so on." Afraid that Eva would make unrealistic wishes, Pam had to give her a subtle warning.

What she really wanted to avoid was for Eva to wish to get back together with Jay. It was impossible to happen, so Pam wanted her to stop hoping.

"Mom, it's supposed to be a secret. I can't tell it to you." After thinking for a while, Eva closed her eyes and silently made a wish.

"Jay, do you want to know what I wished for?" asked Eva.

"Ah, it must be like what your mother has said. To be healthy, and to be able to stand again so you’ll no longer need a wheelchair." It could be told from the tone of Jay's voice that he was being cautious with his words, afraid that he might say something wrong.

"No. Try again!" Like a stubborn kid, Eva shook her head and urged him to have another guess.

Beads of sweat formed on Jay's forehead as he vaguely guessed what her wish was.

It might be a wish for Eva, but it was a nightmare for him.

This situation made Jay understand why Pam did everything she did before.

Because it seemed like he was really meant to hurt Eva every time he got close to her, even if he wasn't doing anything.

Now he realized that everything Pam did was only to protect Eva.

It turned out that she was right all along, and all he had done was wrong.

Meeting Eva was a huge mistake. He should've listened to Pam from the very beginning.

At this moment, Jay was on pins and needles, and he was itching to escape as soon as possible.

"I'm stupid. You know, I can't guess. I really have no idea," Jay murmured.

"Oh, you are so stupid. What else can I wish for? It's...'¹

Before Eva could even finish her words, Pam quickly interrupted her. "Eva, Jay is our guest now. You can’t always make other people wait. Go on and cut the cake.

"Well, I didn't ask for too much. I just wished that all of us will be fine." Eva pouted.

"Didn't you know that you shouldn't say your wish out loud because it may not come true? But anyway, we are all fine now, so your wish was granted. I'm sure that all of us will be fine as well in the future." As Pam spoke, she handed the knife to Eva.

To be honest, it wasn't only Jay who was suffering right now. Pam also felt her heart being torn apart.

The longer Jay stayed in their house, the more she feared that Eva would say something she shouldn't say.

Just as how she was afraid that Jay would say something that could break her daughter's heart.

"Okay, let me cut the cake." Using the knife Pam gave her, Eva tried to cut the cake. However, she was too weak to do in on her own.

So, she turned to Jay shyly and said, "Jay, help me!"

Her voice was a little coquettish, just like how she used to talk to him years ago.

Although Pam gave him a warning look, Jay didn't have the heart to refuse Eva. "Okay, I'll help you."

Since Eva didn't let go of the knife, he had to put his hand on her to help her cut the knife.

Feeling uncomfortable, Jay suggested, "How about giving me the knife?"

"I'll cut it myself. I have been unconscious for so long. This is the first time that I celebrate my birthday again. Please, let me do it." As always, her pleading voice made it hard for Jay to say no.

Left without a choice, Jay put his hand on hers.

As soon as their hands touched, Eva's cold hand trembled.

"I'm sorry. Did I scare you?" Instinctively, Jay let go of her hand.

"How could you possibly scare me? I'm fine. Let’s cut the cake!" Happiness was written all over Eva's face.

With Jay's help, Eva managed to cut the cake. Then they put some slices on small plates.
