Nancy froze, too scared to move.
Angelina had seen her with Charles. This caused her to panic, nervous energy racing through her body.
Now people knew she and Charles shared a relationship.
Oh dear!
Although, strangely, Angelina had left without a word.
The two children watched as Angelina rushed up the stairs to the second floor. Before they knew it, they saw her running down with haste.
"Grandma, what's wrong?" the children asked softly, standing in the living room with looks of confusion on their faces.
Angelina said nothing and went straight to her dressing room.
The two children looked at one another, still wondering what was happening.
After quite some time, Nancy walked down the stairs. Her cheeks were a rosy pink from embarrassment.
Angelina had been sitting in front of the dressing table. From the footsteps, she knew it was Nancy who descended the staircase.
She opened the door, stuck her head out and whispered, "Nancy, come here."
Nancy had actually come downstairs to explain the situation to Angelina. Although, she knew that anything she said would be useless.
"Grandma is being weird," said the children.
"Why don't you two go upstairs, while I talk to your Grandma? Go find your Daddy," Nancy told the children.
"Alright," they said, without question. Up they went, happily walking hand in hand.
Nancy walked in and closed the door.
With her arms around her chest in disapproval, Angelina leaned against the dresser. Quiet rage filled her as she said, "Nancy, did I just catch you having relations with my son?"
"Yes, Mrs. Fu," Nancy admitted. It was not in her to lie about something that obviously happened.
"I knew you had been lusting over my son. You can't hide it anymore! I caught you in the act!" said Angelina angrily.
"Before you assume anything about me, Ma’am, I think it is actually he who wanted a relationship with me," Nancy answered calmly.
"Do you expect me to believe that my son would want something from the likes of you? You must be joking. You are overstepping your welcome in this household. Do not forget your place here!" said Angelina, pointing a finger at Nancy.
"I understand how much you care for your son. He is an excellent man. I kindly ask you to think about what has been happening. Is it truly me coming after him, or him coming after me? Mrs. Fu, I'm well aware that I am considered a nobody compared to him. Your family is rich and powerful and I come from a simple life with not much wealth," retorted Nancy as she spoke frankly and honestly.
"Well then!” Angelina nodded slowly. She gazed at Nancy, looking at her up and down. "To be honest, I commend your honesty and frankness. You have been a good girl. But there are just some things I cannot accept, no matter how good. Do you understand?"
"Oh, I know," Nancy said calmly but with a hint of bitterness. Nancy gazed at Angelina with indifference. She did not let Angelina intimidate her.
"Do you love my son?" asked Angelina suddenly.
This surprised Nancy. Trying to stay calm and indifferent, Nancy shrugged. "As you said, your son is a very excellent man. Any girl would love him, right?"
