Swoosh! James threw his fist at Wotan. An endless shadow enveloped the entire area, including Wotan’s body.
Wotan continuously waved his sword, causing Sword Energy to materialize incessantly, shattering the surrounding shadows.
“Alright.” After smashing innumerable shadows into pieces and getting out of James’ multiple attacks, Wotan stopped and took a look at James, who was covered with injuries and whose hair was a mess. He smiled, saying, “There’s no need to fight anymore, I already know the extent of your capabilities. If we go on, you’ll surely be defeated.”
James tried to squeeze a smile. If it were not for the restrictions he imposed upon himself and the fact that he could not deploy the Chaos Power, he would not be this weak when facing Wotan.
Looking at Wotan, who was unscathed and clean after the battle, James gave Wotan a thumbs up, saying, “You’re very powerful. I really didn’t expect that someone of the Quasi-Acme Rank would be this strong.”
“He, he,” Wotan chuckled softly and said, “You’re not bad yourself, but…” His tone changed, “Although you can barely fight me, you’ve not reached the minimum to be my ally. So, you don’t have the right to compete with me over the providence here. However, the Five-color Holy Water in the five-color pond isn’t as useful in helping me improve my physical power. For you, it might be, since you’ve just made it into the Omniscience Path. If you enter the pond and absorb its energy, you may well be a worthy opponent of mine.”
Hearing this, James was confused. What was Wotan trying to do? Why would he not allow James to become his ally yet allow him to enter the five-color pond? He stared at Wotan, waiting for him to finish his sentence.
Taking a quick glance at James, Wotan said, “Countless years ago, my great ancestor had very good relations with a powerful human. He owed the human race a favor, so this time I’m presenting you with the providence. Take this as my way of returning my great ancestor’s favor.”
James understood immediately and said to Wotan, “Thank you very much.” As he spoke, he headed towards the pond.
Surrounding them were thousands upon thousands of living beings. Some of them could barely suppress their urge of walking forward to stop James.
At this moment, Wotan extended his sword, from which emanated invisible Sword Energy. He said coldly, “You wanna get to the pond? Get your permission from this sword first.”
Once he said this, a number of living beings stopped in their steps, turning towards Leilani and other powerful figures of the same ranking for guidance. Leilani and her counterparts were discussing the matter in the dark.
“I can’t believe that lad’s a human.”
“The Seventh Stage of the Omniscience Path means he’s already powerful enough. We cannot let him grow further. We must stop him, or else he’ll become another Soren once he reaches the Ninth Stage. This will be a threat to all races.”
“Right, many races already have vendettas with the Human Race. We cannot let him get the fortune here nor allow him to leave the Desolate Galaxy alive.”
They continued their discussion until a consensus was reached. All of them agreed that they must attack.
“Wotan,” Leilani stood up and looked at Wotan, who was standing in mid-air. She said coldly, “You’re strong, but I doubt you can handle all of the living beings here on your own.”
“Never try, never know.” Wotan was not fearful in the slightest bit, even if he was faced with so many living beings. He looked at James, who was nearing the five-color pond, and reminded James, “Young lad, I can only resist them for around ten minutes. It’s now on you to absorb as much energy as you can.”
“Thanks, that’s already enough,” Once James completed his sentence, he disappeared into the pond with a flicker.
