"Please, just listen, okay?"
Brittany's strength seemed to drain away in an instant, collapsing into his embrace, her hot tears seeping through the thin fabric of his shirt, dampening his chest right over his heart, burning with pain!
"Crying, huh?"
Isaac turned her face towards him, seeing it streaked with tears, and felt a pang in his chest. He reached out, wiping away her tears with a voice growing hoarser, "Stop crying."
Brittany was emotionally overwhelmed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to forget—"
"I just... I can't remember..."
Isaac kissed her, tasting the bitter tears on his tongue, but he couldn't care less, gently soothing her, "I know, I know."
She wouldn't have forgotten him on purpose.
Brittany clung to his neck, responding passionately.
In the deep, dark night, within the confines of the car, the atmosphere was thick with unsaid promises.
Suddenly, Brittany felt a wave of nausea. She pushed Isaac away abruptly, swung open the car door, and dashed out, making a beeline for the nearby bushes, heaving until the world spun.
Isaac initially thought he might have crossed a line.
Seeing her in such distress, he panicked.
With a click, he opened the driver's side door, walked over to her, and supported her, "What's wrong?"
Brittany, feeling miserable, shook her head: "It's nothing."
"Must be something I ate."
Lately, Brittany had been running herself ragged, eating at odd hours. She had meant to see a doctor but never found the time.
Isaac wiped away the droplets at the corner of her mouth and handed her a bottle of water, "Rinse your mouth."
Brittany looked pale and fragile, stirring a deep concern in Isaac.
"I'll take you back inside."
"No, it's too late. What if we wake someone?" Brittany remembered that Isaac's presence had to remain a secret.
"It's fine, everyone's asleep."
