Derek was at a loss for words.
"Don't worry, I'll handle everything."
Isaac strode off before Derek could warn him to stay away from Brittany. Frustrated, Derek kicked the wall, only to hurt his own leg.
When Isaac returned home, his assistant was squatting by the door, teary-eyed. "Caspian, someone broke into my place. Could you—"
"Report it to the police."
Isaac unlocked the door. "I'm not a cop. Can't help you there."
He shut the door behind him, leaving his assistant, face flushed with embarrassment, to kick at the air in frustration before walking away.
...
Brittany had a restless night, worried about Isaac's secret getting out.
The next morning, she found Derek waiting at her door.
"Sis."
"Come here."
Derek led Brittany to the balcony. "Who exactly is that guy from last night?"
"His name's Caspian." Brittany was honest. "Bro, I like him. Please, don't make it hard for him."
Hearing this, Derek was unsettled. "Do you really think I'd lay a hand on him?"
He began to doubt what he meant to Brittany.
Brittany pursed her lips. "It's just... Caspian and I are already together. We can't be torn apart."
"What about the royal family—"
"I'll handle it."
Brittany bit her lip. "Just... don't let word get out about us."
She didn't want to cause trouble for Isaac.
"I know what's at stake." Derek wouldn't betray Brittany. "I just don't trust that guy. What if he's after your title, and you end up paying for his schemes?"
