Ronald must have been truly exhausted.
After just one round, he curled up with Kari and fell into a deep sleep.
Kari was tired too, but her mind was surprisingly clear. The dim light bathed them, making Ronald look even more handsome.
Ronald was not someone to mess with.
Everyone in Imperial City knew that Ronald was the kind who would hold a grudge. He wouldn’t hesitate to cross even his own father, let alone a stranger.
Years of fighting his way through life had honed his fierce spirit.
The outside world dared not provoke him, yet Kari felt that deep down, he was all gentleness. She moved closer and kissed his chin, whispering "Goodnight."
...
Brittany had gone to bed early last night and was up with the dawn.
She noticed Kari was missing and was puzzled.
“Hannah, where’s Kari?”
Pregnant Hannah, now in her third trimester, had been sleeping lightly in her Bri-jeweled Studio.
“She got a call last night and left,” Hannah struggled to sit up. “Probably went to see Ronald.”
Brittany raised an eyebrow, “Let’s head downstairs.”
Downstairs in the dining room, Daniel was having breakfast, with the servants busy around him.
Having returned to Imperial City, Daniel was thriving, enjoying a bowl of fish soup with evident relish.
Brittany came downstairs to find her son looking so well-behaved, her heart melted.
“Morning, Daniel.”
“Morning, Mom.”
“Morning, Auntie.”
Daniel greeted them cheerfully. Brittany walked over and pinched his cheek, “I heard from the butler that you’ve been having desserts every day?”
Daniel’s face fell a bit, “Abby made them herself.”
He had to eat them!
Brittany was concerned about Daniel’s teeth, “Just in moderation.”
