The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 127

Derek and Loraine shot each other a glance.

Isaac was going to be late getting home, which bummed Brittany out a bit, but she didn't feel right making a fuss about it.

"Bri, I'm sorry."

Isaac could feel her disappointment, which made him feel all the more guilty. "I've got something important to deal with here. If you're not used to being alone at home, you can have one of your friends stay with you."

"No worries; I can handle it on my own."

Brittany had thought he would get home on time and had planned to whip up a hearty dinner to welcome him. But it seemed like that plan was going to have to be put on hold.

Isaac saw the unease on her face, and it gave him pause.

If he had known it was going to be like this, he should have brought her along.

They chatted a little more. Brittany started to feel sleepy and eventually dozed off.

Isaac didn't end the call. He placed his phone aside and booted up his laptop to get back to work.

Brittany woke up in the middle of the night. In the video call, Isaac was engrossed in his work. The blue light of the screen cast on his face gave him a stern look.

She rolled over, propped her chin on her hand, and just stared at him.

Isaac was so absorbed in his work that he didn't notice she had woken up. Brittany didn't say anything either.

After a while, Isaac glanced at the screen and saw her bright eyes.

"Awake now?"

Brittany acknowledged with a hum, then asked, "You're still working?"

"Things are a bit complicated here. I hadn't finished my work earlier, so I need to pull an all-nighter."

Isaac was clearly exhausted. Brittany wanted to remind him to take care of himself, but at that moment, the doorbell rang.

He frowned.

He had already told Nathan not to come over at night.

So, who could be dropping by now?

"Bri, hold on for a bit; I'll go answer the door."

"Sure."
