When Isaac hung up the phone, Brittany was already fast asleep.
He sighed, heading to the bathroom. When he came out, instead of going to his own room, he went to Brittany's.
He slipped under the covers and into the bed.
The bed was small, just about right for Brittany. With Isaac added to the mix, it was a bit of a squeeze.
As if sensing his warmth, Brittany moved closer to him in her sleep.
Isaac wrapped his arms around her, closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep in no time.
He slept like a rock.
When Isaac opened his eyes again, it was already the next afternoon.
Brittany was nowhere to be found in his arms.
He had been running around like a headless chicken in H city these past few days, not getting enough rest. Now, he finally felt refreshed.
Stepping out of the room, he saw Brittany just coming in with some groceries.
“Zakky, you're up?”
“You went out?”
Isaac eyed the groceries in her hands, guessing she just got back from the supermarket.
He took the groceries from her hands and headed to the kitchen. Brittany took off her shoes and followed him. “Yeah, you've had a tough trip. It's the weekend, so I'll cook.”
Isaac was indeed missing Brittany's cooking.
“Great, I'll freshen up and then come help you.”
Brittany put on her apron, watching him head into the bathroom. Then, she started humming a tune and began prepping for dinner.
When Isaac came out of the bathroom, he was dressed in cream-colored sweater and matching trousers, looking even more relaxed.
He rolled up his sleeves and began to help. The two worked seamlessly together. In less than an hour, dinner was ready.
After a hearty meal, Brittany lounged on the sofa watching TV. Isaac returned to his room. When he came back out, he was holding an exquisite box. He handed the box to Brittany.
“Is this a gift you got for me?”
