Donna Dustin didn't get to the hospital until nightfall, and Isaac was still out cold.

Donna Dustin was clearly shaken up, gripping Brittany's hand tight, and asked, "What did the doc say?"

"He lost a lot of blood; they need to keep treating him."

Brittany poured Donna Dustin a cup of coffee, "Granny, can you manage by yourself at home?"

Donna Dustin nodded, "No sweat; I can stay home alone."

By the time Isaac woke up, it was already night.

Brittany saw him come to and went up to ask, "You awake; does it still hurt?"

It kinda did. But he didn't want Brittany to know, so he shook his head, "Nah, it doesn't."

Brittany hung her head, dampened a cotton swab with warm water, and gently cleaned his lips, "The doc said you need to rest for a while."

Isaac looked at her with an intense gaze.

After Brittany wet his lips, she put down the glass, "Thanks for saving me."

"It's what I’m supposed to do." Isaac gripped Brittany's hand firmly, his eyes resolute, "Bri, I genuinely want to protect you."
