Brittany hit the call button, put down her water cup, lifted his shirt, and saw a horrifically torn wound that was stained with blood.
She felt a pang of guilt. She was too nervous earlier and didn't treat it in time. Isaac was still a patient and now that his wound was open again, she felt even more guilty.
Isaac saw her teary eyes and wanted to comfort her.
Unable to contain her emotions, Brittany gently touched the wound; her eyes reddened. "It's all my fault. I was too anxious and had you hold me for so long. It must have hurt a lot, didn't it?"
It did hurt.
A flash of pain crossed Isaac's eyes. He held her hand tightly, applying a bit of pressure. "It hurt a lot, but I'm not in that much pain now."
Brittany was filled with anguish and confusion.
The doctor rushed over, saw the torn wound and sighed lightly. "Mr. Salter, did you get into a fight?"
He was full of fight when he went downstairs just now, and now he came back with an open wound. Seems like he had a pretty serious fight.
"A fight?"
Brittany looked at Isaac in confusion. "With who?"
Isaac glared at the doctor. "Shut up."
The doctor showed no fear. "Earlier, Mr. Salter heard that Ms. Dustin was downstairs chatting with a friend and stormed down. So the wound didn't open from a fight?"
Brittany looked at Isaac, clearly clueless about this.
Isaac said sternly, "Either change the dressing or get out."
The doctor didn't dare provoke him any further; he just wanted to do his job. He quickly unwrapped the bandages, changed the dressing, and bandaged it up again.
Before leaving, he said meaningfully, "Mr. Salter, the wound on your back is healing well; take care of it."
Once he was gone, Brittany looked at Isaac, her eyes filled with apology. "Zakky, don't get me wrong. I went downstairs earlier and ran into William. I thought you were still recovering, so I chatted with him for a bit downstairs. I didn't realize that I lost track of time."
She was thinking about Isaac, as his response was too obvious.
The corners of Isaac's mouth were tight. "Next time something like this happens, tell me right away."
They were married now and needed to maintain some distance from the opposite sex.
How could Brittany refuse?
Especially in the face of Isaac's obvious displeasure. Clearly, he was jealous.
