The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 188

Isaac didn't even bother to look at Nathan, and Nathan knew he was still pissed. So, he tried to smooth things over, "Mr. Salter, I was out of line last time. Please, punish me."

He'd rather be punished than be given the cold shoulder.

Isaac lifted his head, "How long have you been with me?"

Nathan did the math, "Seven years."

Seven years, from when Isaac was just twenty.

"Nathan." Isaac's voice was icy, "You've been with me this long, you should know by now that I have zero tolerance for screw-ups."

"Mr. Salter." Nathan's face drained of color, thinking he was about to get sacked, "Mr. Salter, I know I messed up. I'll take my punishment and I swear I won't make the same mistake again. Please, don't fire me."

It wasn't just about the fat paycheck from Isaac, but in these seven years, Isaac had become the most important person in his life. He really regretted listening to Derek in the first place.

Isaac had no intention of firing Nathan, he just wanted to give him a heads up, "Don't let there be a next time."

Nathan breathed a sigh of relief, "Mr. Salter, I promise, I won't do anything to cross you again."

Isaac picked up his cup and took a sip, "Any progress on finding a kidney?"

"I'm on it, we had a potential match a while ago, but it didn't work out." Nathan said.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Derek walked in with some documents, "Mr. Salter."

During office hours, he always addressed Isaac as Mr. Salter.

Isaac signaled for Nathan to leave.

"Why didn't you take action at the press conference?" Isaac asked.

Compared to Nathan's mistake, Derek's independent action pissed him off more.

"I didn't think it through. I didn't want it to affect the company." Derek had prepared his excuse well, "By the time I got there, the old woman had already shown up."

Even though he was delayed on the road, even if Isaac himself had stepped in, it might not have prevented the press conference. And the outcome was good anyway.

But Isaac didn't see it that way. When Brittany was under attack by the press, being questioned by everyone, he as her husband was nowhere to be found, and that was neglect.

"Derek, this is the first time. I hope it's also the last." Isaac said.

He didn't want anyone to meddle in his affairs, or he might do something drastic.

Derek had rarely seen Isaac angry, and he could sense his dissatisfaction. But he didn't think he had done anything wrong. However, considering the bigger picture, he swallowed his pride, "I understand."
