Brittany Dustin and William Dillion turned up at the dinner party together, causing quite a stir.
It was Viola Miller who first spotted them. There was a mischievous glint in her eyes. "So, you two are a thing now, huh?"
She had noticed William's affection for Brittany a while back but never thought they would actually hook up.
William responded with a smile. "Yeah, we're together."
"Congrats, you two," Viola murmured. "You really do make a great pair."
That was a moment William had never dreamed of, and he looked thoroughly at ease.
However, not everyone was thrilled about that lovey-dovey scene.
"William, long time no see. How about we grab a drink sometime?"
Brittany frowned at the sound of the voice.
"Zac," William said, moving to protectively shield Brittany. "Sure, we're friends. You're always welcome if you're truly happy for us."
The guests glanced at each other, a flurry of whispers echoing around.
Everyone knew that Isaac Salter used to be married to Brittany, and he had always treated her like a treasure.
But then, Brittany was William's girlfriend.
Isaac's eyes turned icy cold in an instant. "If you two tie the knot, I'll make sure to send a big gift."
A chill ran down Brittany's spine at his words, and she gripped William's hand tightly.
"It's okay; don't be scared." William reassured her softly, his heart aching for her.
What had Isaac done to her to make her that terrified of him, to the point of loathing him?
Brittany's dependence made Isaac lose his cool.
His eyes glowed red, causing an eerie silence to fall over the guests.
Even Nathan Jarvis, standing behind him, was frightened.
