The Dillion family was pretty stoked about Brittany, especially after her recent show-up, which left them super impressed.
The family had a hearty dinner together, and Brittany had knocked back a few, looking a bit buzzed.
Seeing that, Mrs. Dillion said to William, “She looks beat, why don’t you help her get some shut-eye upstairs? Let the help take care of her, don't let her wear herself out.”
William, grinning, replied, “Sure thing.”
He walked over to Brittany and helped her upstairs.
“Ms. Dustin’s got the whole package. Both brains and beauty. She's a great catch for our William.”
“Couldn’t agree more. If it weren’t for Ms. Dustin's help this time, we’d have been up the creek without a paddle. We need to treat her right from now on.”
William got Brittany to settle in the guest room. He helped give her a bath and change her clothes before tucking her in.
Brittany was out like a light, sunk deep into the mattress.
William sat by the bed, watching her, his eyes filled with affection.
He reached out and gently touched her face. He then got up and left the room.
“William.”
His cousin, Olivia was standing not far off with a glass of milk in her hand, “You’ve had a few drinks as well. Here, have some milk.”
William took the milk and asked her, “You need something?”
“Let's talk in the room.” Olivia took a seat on the sofa, “You and Brittany have been together for a while now. When are you planning to pop the question?”
Pop the question?
William took a sip of his milk and replied, “Haven't thought about that yet.”
“William, Brittany is a hell of a gal. If you don’t lock it down soon, you might...” Olivia didn’t finish her sentence, but her meaning was clear. She was worried Brittany would be snatched up by someone else.
