"I've already told you he ain't coming back."
Isaac was a man with strength. Brittany just woke up and she didn't stand a chance against him.
He poured her a glass of water, then pushed her down on the bed, cushioning her with a pillow, "I've erased all his contacts. Don't reach out to him again."
"Buzz off!"
Brittany knocked over the glass and splashed droplets of water on his hand. He didn't even flinch. He asked, "Don't want water, huh? Hungry? What do you feel like eating?" His voice was hoarse.
"I want you to get away." Brittany's eyes welled up and she wished she could rip him to shreds. "Isaac, what the hell do you want? Wasn't ruining me once enough? You want to do it all over again?"
As he locked his eyes with hers, he felt strangely uneasy.
He silently poured her another glass of water and spoke up, "Right now, I'm the only one who can take care of you."
Brittany was too weak to resist. She gave up, laying back on the bed, and stopped talking.
Isaac put down the glass, "You've exhausted yourself. Rest up now."
Brittany closed her eyes, refusing to engage with him.
Shona had run a full check-up on Brittany. The results showed that Brittany was back to health.
The toxins were completely gone, posing no threat to her anymore.
Shona was utterly baffled, "I couldn't even come up with an antidote. Who on earth did?"
Her team was made up of top-notch medical geniuses from around the world. If even they couldn't do it, how did Brittany manage?
"Was she detoxed when William took her away? Abroad?" Isaac asked.
The only person Brittany had contact with in those five years was William. But William wasn't experienced in this field. How did she survive?
Shona shrugged, "I'm in the dark, too."
"Oh, and the Dillion family's all in an uproar now. Brittany's turned into their enemy. What are you planning to do?"
"Kill the news."
