The urgency in Nathan's eyes was unmistakable, and their chemistry was palpable.
But out of the corner of her eye, Kari noticed something. In a split second, she pushed Nathan away, fumbled with the car door, and stumbled out.
"Kari…"
Nathan, in the midst of his excitement, was taken aback. He straightened his clothes and got out of the car.
Kari hurried to a corner where a mobile phone lay discarded. She recognized it in an instant. Because it belonged to Brittany.
Having consumed quite a bit of alcohol, her hands were shaking.
"Whose phone is this?"
In that moment, Kari instantly sobered up. She picked up the phone, examined it closely, then looked up as her face became incredibly pale. “It's Brittany's. Nathan, something's happened to Brittany."
...
Brittany came to.
The lingering ether made her feel nauseous, and it made her head pound. She couldn't see anything around her.
Brittany slowly got up from the ground and leaned against the wall for support.
The temperature was low. So low, in fact, that Brittany could feel the cold seeping into her bones. She groped everything around her, trying to get a sense of her surroundings. She was in a freezer. She curled up as best as she could to conserve her energy.
After what felt like an eternity, Brittany was almost frozen stiff.
BANG!
The door opened.
Natalie walked in with a look of disdain on her face as she spotted Brittany huddled against the wall.
She strode over and slapped Brittany across the face. "You bitch!"
How dare she expose her secrets during the finals! Natalie was interrogated at the police station for hours and nearly landed behind bars. This was all Brittany’s fault!
Brittany’s head spun from the impact. However, she shook her head, trying to stay alert. "I didn't expose anything."
It was Natalie who had initially done wrong. What right did she have to demand justice?
