Upon seeing William, Brittany quickly sat up and tugged at her hospital gown to make it look presentable. Her face turned a shade of red, a clear sign of embarrassment. She couldn't bring herself to meet William's gaze.
Isaac, who had fallen over in surprise, quickly rose to his feet as a shadow of annoyance crossed his face. His intimate moment with Brittany had been spoiled. Who could blame him for being upset? "What are you doing here?" He asked.
In William's hands were a bouquet of beautiful flowers and a couple of gift boxes.
"Brittany is in the hospital, so it's only normal for a friend to pay her a visit, right?" William retorted as he walked into the room and set his gifts on the table. A hint of annoyance was evident in his voice as he continued, "If anyone should be questioned, it's you, Isaac. You and Brittany are divorced. What are you doing here?"
"We've made amends." Isaac replied, ignoring the pain in his body from his fall. He sat down on the bed and boldly took Brittany's hand. "So, it's only natural that I'm here."
William was taken aback for a moment. He had anticipated that this day would come, just not so soon.
"Please leave." Brittany’s face turned an even deeper shade of red.
Isaac, not wanting to upset Brittany, nodded. "Alright, I'll take care of the paperwork to transfer here." He said before leaning in to give Brittany a quick kiss, making sure William saw it. It was a clear message that they were back together.
William remained silent, and after Isaac left, Brittany poured him a glass of water.
"So, you two are really back together?" William asked as he took the glass but didn’t drink from it.
"Yes." Brittany replied after a moment of silence. She leaned back against the hospital bed. "We are."
