"What kind of poison? Did it severely affect you? Are there any lasting effects?"
It seemed like William was oblivious to the whole matter.
Brittany shook her head as she recounted the events of five years ago.
After listening to everything, William took a sharp intake of breath. "Bri, I had no idea about the poisoning."
Brittany knew his nature, and she knew he wouldn't lie. "William, thank you for saving me five years ago. If you ever need anything, feel free to contact me."
William reached out to pat her head, but then thought better of it and withdrew his hand awkwardly. "Alright."
Before he left, he seemed to remember something. "Bri, when I found you five years ago, you were in a terrible state. There was a doctor who contacted me, claiming he could help you. Perhaps he's the one who detoxified you."
"Who was it?" Brittany figured that person might have some information.
"He was wearing a mask, so I couldn't make out his face." William was entirely focused on Brittany's condition back then. He didn't have the capacity to care about the person's identity.
"I see."
After William left, Brittany took a short rest for a few hours.
When she woke up, there was an extra bed in her room. And Isaac was leaning against the headboard with a thick stack of papers in front of him.
Nathan was waiting nearby. After seeing her awake, he quickly greeted her. "Ms. Dustin, you're awake."
"Uh-huh." Brittany woke up feeling a bit thirsty.
Noticing her movement, Isaac poured her a glass of water and handed it to her, signaling Nathan to take away the papers. "Rest for the next few days. No more hospital visits."
After Nathan left, Isaac got off the bed.
Brittany eyed him as he approached. "What are you doing?"
Isaac leaned in and kissed her lips as his large hand held her waist. "I wanted to kiss you."
After five long years, he almost wished he could swallow Brittany whole.
Brittany noticed his change. Memories from five years ago came flooding back to her, making her face flush crimson.
Isaac only released her once he had his fill.
"Are you moving back to Radiant Residences after discharge, Bri?"
"No. Let's move to the house we bought previously."
