At three o'clock in the afternoon, all the formalities were completed.
Joie, her once long hair now cropped to a pixie cut, making her look even more worn, was escorted by the police to the hospital.
However, she was in an excellent mood. She hadn't imagined for a second that the tables would turn.
Now, with Isaac needing something from her, she had enough leverage to entangle Isaac in her current predicament.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Joie spotted Isaac standing in the corridor, as dashing as ever.
Such a shame, she thought, that behind his looks was a man capable of such ruthlessness.
"Bro Isaac," Joie called out as she approached him, maintaining her usual sweet and demure demeanor.
Once upon a time, Isaac had treated Joie like his own sister, but after discovering her misdeeds, he couldn't muster any affection for her. Yet, fate had a twisted sense of humor.
"You know the situation. If you're willing to donate a kidney, I'll meet any condition you set," Isaac proposed with a somber look.
Joie adjusted a lock of hair behind her ear, "Including marrying me?"
Isaac's gaze darkened, "Clearly, that's impossible."
Joie was undeterred by his refusal. "I'm not in a condition to donate a kidney right now."
"I'll apply for your house arrest, on the condition that you don't leave Imperial City," Isaac compromised. "Additionally, I'll ensure you live a life of luxury for the rest of your days."
The offer was tempting for Joie, who had suffered greatly in prison and dreamed of escaping that hell. But she was not ready to settle.
"What else do you want?" Isaac pressed, his patience thinning.
Licking her lips in anticipation, Joie said, "I want to return to show business."
