The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 286

James nodded, "Alright, I'll get my peeps on the job right away. I'll drop you a line as soon as we find something."

As James left the study, he saw Lucky wagging his tail at the bedroom door, looking like he wanted to get in.

As soon as James came out, Lucky started wagging his tail even more excitedly, making excited panting sounds, as if begging him to open the door.

James walked over, and gave Lucky's head a pat.

"You want in, huh? Nah, can't do that. You might scare the lady inside. You gotta take this up with your owner."

Lucky let out a few whines. James stood up, "You're one curious dog, aren't you?"

As he walked down the stairs, he glanced behind him to see no person, and no dog.

He chuckled, "No one's seeing me off, huh?"

He could accept Luca's cold shoulder, but even Lucky didn't bother to see him off. How heartless!

...

As Lucian stepped out of the study and reached the bedroom door, Lucky got up and started wagging his tail. He pushed the door open, and Lucky followed him inside.

Seeing the woman on the bed, Lucky made a sound, looking excited.

"Lucky, quiet." Lucian whispered, and Lucky obediently lay down.

Lucian looked at the woman on the bed, her neck marked with a few red spots from her struggle. Her face was delicate and peaceful, devoid of the usual defiance and fear when she faced him.

He sat by the bed. He had to admit, he was starting to have thoughts about this woman that he shouldn't. He wasn't a regular at the Red Jack Club, his personality was aloof, and he rarely attended friends' gatherings. But ever since Allison started working at the Red Jack Club, he almost attended all the parties.

He was somewhat repulsed by Allison, but was also drawn to her. He hated seeing her with other men, and whenever she was with Jason or Dr. Dylan, his emotions would easily be stirred up.

He wanted to keep her in a delicate display case, in his home, where only he could see her. His gaze grew darker. Every time he saw someone bullying her, he wanted to kill that person.
