Tonight, Allison and Ashley didn't run into the rude customers they were worried about. However, the second floor was indeed full of out-of-towners. At Red Jack Club, there was an unspoken rule: the higher the floor, the more cash they had got to splash and the higher their social status. The first and second floors were mainly filled with walk-ins and out-of-town businessmen.
Occasionally, there would be some crude behaviors like flirting with the waitstaff. But, they couldnt really put a stop to this sort of thing. After all, the customers could just say, "I didn't touch you, what's your problem? Will your skin peel off if I touch you?" which left the waitstaff speechless.
The waitstaff didn't want to start a fight; they still needed their jobs. So, most of the time, they just had to suck it up.
Tonight, Allison and Ashley were assigned to serve in Room 203. The guests here were all walk-ins, and they had quite a few demands. One customer got drunk, and Ashley had to help him to the restroom.
Allison was left alone in the room. She had a bottle of wine in her hand and was filling up the glasses one by one.
"Wow, since when did Red Jack Club's waitresses become so gorgeous? This is great." A man in his thirties was eyeing Allison, his eyes lighting up. He only flirted verbally and didn't do anything too out of line.
Another man stared at Allison's face for a few seconds, then said in a regional accent, "Working here must be a real cash cow. Following Marvin around can get a designer bag a month, ha-ha."
The men laughed. Allison didn't respond. After she finished pouring the wine, she stepped aside. The men didn't continue to pick on Allison. After a few teasing remarks, they quickly went back to their own conversation.
"Marvin, I heard that Synergy Corp is planning to partner with Snow Inc., injecting two billion dollars into it to keep it operating. This is bound to piss off Lindberg Corporation. Lucian is not someone to be trifled with. By funding Snow Inc. at this time, Synergy Corp is going head-to-head with Lindberg Corporation." They said.
Upon hearing Lucian's name, Allison pursed her lips subconsciously and started to listen in.
Marvin thought for a moment, "Even if Synergy Corp is strong, it doesn't have much influence in Northfield. If they dare to confront Lindberg Corporation head-on, there must be a stronger force backing them."
"I heard that George, the second son of the Lindberg family, is back. That Lindberg family is a real mess. Marvin, even an out-of-towner like me knows about their past. But with Lindberg Corporation planning to take over Snow Inc., and Synergy Corp suddenly getting involved, I can't figure out what Synergy Corp stands to gain. If they piss off Lucian, they'll be sunk in Northfield." The guy said.
Marvin took a sip of his wine, "You're right. Isn't the Lindberg family still in Lucian's hands? Once Lucian takes over Snow Inc., and Carter Lindberg kicks the bucket, the entire family will be his. The people who are most anxious are those in the Lindberg family. If I were George, I'd definitely side with Synergy Corp."
"You're right, Marvin. But George is still Lucian's brother. Blood ties often seem trivial in the face of power." The guy said.
Allison stood against the wall, quietly listening to their conversation.
She suddenly remembered the first time she met Lucian in a hotel. He was obviously drugged then. The tug-of-war among the wealthy families was like thick fog, full of uncertainty and danger. It was shocking that even brothers could be so cold-hearted. She began to understand why Lucian was so indifferent, lacked trust in anyone, and hated being deceived so much.
