The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 395

After ending her call, Penelope left the room.

...

The banquet hall was brightly lit. The crystal chandelier sparkled brilliantly.

Donning a custom-made silk dress, Miranda was busy chit-chatting with a few society ladies. The auction that was about to begin was all set. This time, the auction dinner was well-prepared. Everyone in Northfield's upper class respected Miranda, so upon her invitation, they all brought high-priced auction items.

Leah, too, brought a painting worth seventy to eighty thousand. The Flanagans weren't exactly filthy rich. This painting was the best she could offer. After all, the auction proceeds were to be donated, but for the sake of dignity, and given that she was in-laws with the Lindbergs, she couldn't afford to appear too shabby.

"Mrs. Flanagan, the auction item you brought this time is pretty dope. This painting must not come cheap, huh?"

Leah chuckled, "You are flattering me, Mrs. Santiago. Your wooden carving is the real treasure here." The carving was actually worth just over forty thousand dollars. Mrs. Santiago laughed, knowing Leah was showing off her painting and downplaying her carving. She shot back, "I come to Mrs. Lindberg's charity dinner every year. This is my third year already."

Leah's face stiffened a bit. She knew Mrs. Santiago was mocking her for only being able to attend such a dinner this year because of her daughter. She bit her lip, "Mrs. Santiago, I hope to chat with you here again next year."

Once her daughter successfully married into the Lindbergs and the Lindbergs and Flanagans started doing business together, she won't have to put up with these people anymore.

Mrs. Santiago retorted, "Is that so? I hope to see you next year, Mrs. Flanagan." After saying this, she took her champagne and walked over to Miranda, "Mrs. Lindberg."

Miranda turned around with a smile, "Mrs. Santiago, how's the dinner?"
