The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 402

Grace halted in her tracks, her hands clenched and then relaxed.

"I know I screwed up a lot with you guys." Christopher said, "I've arranged a nice position at the company for Allison. Tell her she can come over."

"No need," Grace said firmly, "Allie's job is just fine. You don't need to worry."

Christopher sighed, "Grace, you're still as stubborn."

Grace left, pushing the door open. She was worried sick about Penelope, but couldn't go see her.

After leaving the hospital, Grace took out her phone, leaned against a wall, and kept looking at the news. The reports said Penelope was crushed by a chandelier, bleeding heavily, and had a miscarriage. It scared the crap out of her.

Her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Allison. She wiped away her tears and answered, "Hey, Allie."

"Mom, where are you?" Allison asked.

"Allie, I went out to get groceries." Grace could think of no other excuse.

Allison's lips tightened, "Mom, I already bought groceries. When are you coming home?"

"I'll be home soon, Allie. Weren't you supposed to be in class today?" Grace asked.

"I didn't have class." Allison said.

From a store not far from the eastern entrance of the hospital, Allison saw Grace leaving the hospital and getting on a bus. She gripped her phone tight. So Grace really was at the hospital. Was she there to see Penelope?

Her concern for Penelope seemed excessive, as if Penelope was her own daughter.

Allison was startled by her own thought, but quickly dismissed it.

Impossible. How could Penelope be her biological daughter? She was the Flanagan family’s daughter.

Allison took out her phone and called Lucian's assistant, Shawn.

Shawn picked up immediately, "Ms. Zimmer."
