The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 410

In the ward, Penelope was lying in bed. Miranda was standing by her side, holding her hand and saying, "Penelope, the doc says you're pretty much out of the woods now. Thank god, I'd be kicking myself if anything happened to you.”

Tears glistened in Penelope's eyes, "Miranda, it's all on me. I didn't protect my and Lucian's baby."

"How can this be your fault, Penelope? Please don’t be so hard on yourself. What you need to do now is take care of yourself and get your strength back."

Penelope gritted her teeth. She seemed fragile on the outside, but inside she felt incredibly frustrated. She was in this state, and Miranda clearly felt guilty, but she still hadn't taken the initiative to suggest that Lucian marry her. Her voice trembled, "Maybe, I was never meant to have this child."

Miranda looked at Penelope, "I've arranged for the best orthopedic surgeon. Don't worry about your broken arm and leg. That kind of injury takes a while to heal."

Miranda got up to leave, not wanting to disturb Penelope's rest.

Seeing Miranda leaving, Penelope hurriedly said, "What about Lucian? Will he blame me for not protecting our child?"

"How could he possibly do that? If anyone's to blame, it's me." Miranda looked at Penelope lying in the hospital bed, and her heart was filled with profound sadness. If she hadn't insisted on holding the charity gala, if she had done the check-up earlier, maybe all this wouldn't have happened.

Miranda walked out of the room, with Ms. Deborah trailing behind her, "Mrs. Lindberg, are you worried about the situation between Mr. Lindberg and Ms. Flanagan?"

Ms. Deborah had been by Miranda's side for over thirty years, and was five years older than her. Normally, Miranda called her Deborah.

"Deborah, do you remember why Lucian wanted to marry Penelope?"

Ms. Deborah responded, "Didn't Mr. Lindberg say he was set up when he first came back to the country and it was Ms. Flanagan who saved him? She lost her chastity in order to save him and Mr. Lindberg felt guilty, wanting to compensate her.”
