The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 467

Was she hallucinating?

Allison rubbed her eyes, staring at the man who suddenly appeared in front of her. Her eyes started to well up with tears; there were a bunch of words she wanted to say to him.

Lucian was about to scold her for being drunk, but seeing her pitiful eyes, he gently lifted her chin with his finger, his voice softened. "I'm back."

Allison sat up, hugging him tightly, burying herself in his embrace, and then she started to sob quietly. Finally, she found a place where she could relax. His embrace was a little cold, but Allison felt warmth from it. "Lucian," Allison cried, "why did you come back so late?"

"I'm sorry. I came back late."

Hearing her crying, his fingers trembled slightly, then began to stroke her hair. His hand slipped into her soft hair, gently pulling her into his arms. His voice was raspy but warm. "I'm sorry, I'll make sure to come back on time."

"You said you're only going for a few days? You've been gone for a week." Allison's voice was muffled as if it came from the depths of his chest.

Lucian bowed his head, gently kissing the top of her hair.

Only when he heard her crying did he realize that he had truly fallen in love with her. Her crying was like a dull knife cutting his heart. Initially, he was attracted by her body, treating her as his lover. His attraction to her was out of a man's desire for possession, but gradually, Lucian realized that he couldn't live without this woman.

"I promise, I'll be on time from now on," he promised.

Lucian didn't ask her why she was crying, or why she was drowning her sorrows in alcohol. He just held her and comforted her. She seemed to have cried herself out, or maybe the alcohol had hit, and she slowly fell asleep in his arms.

Lucian held her, stood up, and walked into her bedroom.
