The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 609

The young reporter glanced at Sophie, her nerves on edge, torn between staying quiet and the fear of losing her job. "It was Nathalie," she blurted out, despite Sophie’s stern warning. "She told Sophie that Ms. Grace had fainted and was rushed away in an ambulance... We came as fast as we could, hoping to get the scoop on the breaking news."

Sophie's face went pale. "Who gave you the green light to spill the beans? Believe me, I can get you fired in no time!"

Allison let out a scoff. "Nathalie?" She turned her gaze to Penelope. "Was this your doing?"

Penelope, equally shocked that the reporter had thrown her under the bus, went pale. Facing Allison's questioning, she feigned innocence. "Oh my, why would Nana do something like that? I have no idea."

"Cut the act, Penelope. Were you hoping that if Grace passed away and her own daughter wasn't there, by the time I arrived, the media would be all over me? Then tomorrow, you'd just release a clipped video, making me look like an ungrateful daughter?"

Emma felt a chill run down her spine.

So this was Penelope's cunning plan.

Thankfully, it was caught in time.

Now that the truth was out, Penelope had no intention of playing the sister Allison never had, but she shot a wary glance at the brooch in Emma's hand, fearing it might be recording. She struggled to keep her composure. "Allison, we're like sisters, and Ms. Grace has been like a mother to me. I'm really worried about her health. I get that you're upset and said some things in the heat of the moment. I understand."

Allison looked at Tom. "Deal with these two reporters, and as for Sophie, I don’t want to see her again."

Tom nodded in understanding.

Despite her fear, Sophie couldn't believe Allison had the power to get her fired. Frustrated that she couldn't secure the camera and with no support from the intern reporter, she stomped her foot and stormed off. The intern quickly apologized to Allison and followed her out.

At the end of the corridor, the red light above the operating room was still on.
