The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 611

She gave Emma a piercing look, her voice dripping with a mix of arrogance and threat. “How long are you planning to shadow me, huh? I’m the fiancée of a Lindberg, destined to be the matriarch of the Lindberg Corporation. Half of that empire is practically mine. And Epic Entertainment? Just a little fish in our big pond. Cross me, and your future's as bleak as a diner without customers.”

Emma, usually the type to fold faster than a lawn chair at the slightest pressure, stood her ground against Penelope, unfazed and defiant.

Her lips curled into a sly smile, mischief dancing in her eyes. “Well then, Ms. Flanagan, what exactly do you suggest I do?”

Penelope’s grin widened, thinking she’d found her opening. “You’re not exactly swimming in cash at Epic, are you? Why not join my team? I need a personal agent. Prove your loyalty, and I’ll make it worth your while.”

Emma feigned a swooning interest, her eyes wide with the theatrics of temptation but quickly adopted a look of faux distress. “But I’ve got a contract with Allison, and breaking it would cost me an arm and a leg!”

Seeing her chance, Penelope’s mind raced with cunning plots. “How about this? Stay close to Allison, be my eyes and ears. Report back on her every move, every deal she sniffs out. Do that, and I’ll pay you this much.” She gestured a number with her fingers.

Emma’s reaction was exaggerated shock, her hand clasping over her mouth. “Half a million a month? Ms. Flanagan, you’re too generous! With that kind of cash, you can count on me.”

Penelope felt like she’d swallowed a bug. Half a million. This girl must be mad.

Emma pressed on, playing innocent. “Didn’t you just offer me half a million to keep tabs on Allison? You said it yourself, Ms. Flanagan. Going back on your word? Surely, Lucian’s betrothed, the future lady of the Lindberg empire, isn’t short on cash? One word from you, and I’m out on the street, aren’t I?”

Her tone was biting, dripping with sarcasm.
