The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 617

Marian never imagined Leah would be so keen on this. "Mrs. Flanagan, weren't you the skeptic? Remember when we tried to get you to church for Sunday prayers, and you wouldn't budge? And now you're all devout? Is it because of Penelope? How's she doing lately?"

Leah replied with a laid-back smile, "She's doing quite well."

"If you ask me," Marian continued, giving Leah a playful nudge, "since she's on the mend, you should hurry up and set the wedding date. It'll take a load off your mind. Marrying into the Lindberg family isn't something just anyone can manage. You have no idea how envious we all are, with Penelope being so smart and sweet."

Pride lit up Leah's face as she soaked in the admiration from her well-heeled friends. Marrying into the Lindberg family was like winning the social lottery. Thanks to that connection, the Flanagan family’s profits had more than tripled this year, with business partners lining up for a slice of the pie.

Leah deflected the compliments with modesty, "Oh, come now, your daughter Gia is quite the catch herself."

After another round of cards where Leah smoothly won, the other socialites, light in the pocket, dared not complain. As long as Penelope was the Lindbergs’ darling, they all had to bow before Leah, none bold enough to cross her.

Leah set her cards down, "Let's take a break, I'm beat."

She turned to Margo. "And where’s the young miss? With all these aunts visiting, she should come and say hello."

Margo explained, "The young miss came home late last night and is still resting."

"Getting too bold," Leah frowned, irritation creeping into her voice. "Losing her manners."

"Oh, let her be, she’s grown," one lady chimed in.
