The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 665

"Who said I was your girlfriend? I don't remember agreeing to that," Emma retorted with a touch of irritation.

"Oh really? Backing out now, are we? Remember when you visited me in the hospital? We shared a bed," Hughes teased, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.

"When did that happen? Must have slipped my mind," Emma shot back, pretending to forget.

"Alright, if you don't believe me, I'll just buy a plane ticket to Silvertown right now," Hughes joked, his voice dropping to a playful growl, "Big sis Lauren."

The 'Big sis Lauren' comment hit Emma like a ton of bricks, leaving her completely flustered.

Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, and her heart raced. "Don't call me that..."

Just hearing him say it made Emma feel like she was losing control.

She clutched her chest, her heart pounding as if it wanted to leap out.

On the other end of the phone, Hughes' voice was carried by a soft breeze, "I've been missing you, Lauren."

Sitting on the edge of her bed, Emma could only murmur, "Yeah." Truth be told, she missed him too.

For the first time, Emma found herself longing for a man. For the first time, his image had planted itself firmly in her heart. Whenever she had a spare moment, she'd find herself daydreaming. She resolved that as soon as the shoot was over, she'd head straight to Northfield to visit Azure.

Was he fully recovered from his injuries? Had there been any lasting effects?

Her thoughts were a jumbled mess, "I... I miss you too."

After a few seconds of silence, without waiting for a response, Emma added, "As soon as I get a break here, I'll come to Northfield to see you. How's your injury? All healed?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

"Make sure you rest up. Don't push yourself too hard. And stay out of Robbie's mess—it's way too complicated, and we can't take on those people."
