"Look, Allie... I swear, I didn't betray you. Patty drilled me for info, and I held back a lot. I never spilled the beans directly," Paige stammered, her voice tinged with panic. She couldn't bring herself to meet Allison's gaze, unsure if her secret was truly out or if Allie had always known. Paige's heart pounded; the guilt had been eating at her. The last thing she wanted was to deceive Allie, who was not only a decent person but had always treated her fairly.
