The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 67

Lucian looked at her with a stern face as she dodged his gaze. "I told you last night, you need to head back to Juniper Ridge."

"You've got acute gastritis, it's gonna be dicey if you don't go to the hospital," Allison said. "You helped me out last night, I returned the favor, let's call it even, Mr. Lindberg."

She was about to get up and scram.

He reached out and grabbed her chin. "I never noticed you had quite a tongue on you."

Allison gave him a grin. "Well, now you know." She said calmly, "Mr. Lindberg, I've got a job to get to. If I'm late, they'll dock my attendance bonus."

"Are you proud of working at a place like that?" His grip on her chin tightened.

Allison winced a bit. "Why? I'm making an honest buck. If someone gets sloshed, I call an ambulance to haul them off. I think that's something to be proud of."

"Aren't you in school anymore?"

"Are you serious, Mr. Lindberg?" She changed her form of address. "Didn't you already dock me three credits? I can't graduate on time and have to delay my graduation. So, I've started working a year early to make some dough."

Lucian stared at her face, remaining silent for a good while.

The air was still, but his hand on Allison's chin didn't let go.

His other hand gently caressed her face, from her forehead to her eyes, then her nose, finally stopping at her lips. With a light touch on her soft lips, his eyes showed no warmth, only indifference.

"Allison," his tone sent a chill down her spine. "Jason is my cousin. You'd best not have any improper thoughts. He's off-limits to you."

He was warning her.

Allison was taken aback.
