Allison strolled up to Wade's monitor, her eyes scanning the footage they had just captured. With a clap of his hands and a satisfied grin, Wade said, "You know, if I didn't take my sweet time with films, I'd cast you for my next project right this second. Allison, you've got acting in your veins, you're the real deal. After 'Fragments of Truth,' I just want you to be careful with your choices. It's not that I want you to stick to films alone—great TV scripts are worth considering too—but you've got to be picky. 'Fragments of Truth' is going to be a highlight in your career. An actor needs to build a solid reputation, and while great scripts don't grow on trees, they're worth waiting for."
Back at the hotel, Allison hesitated but eventually had Emma turn down the offer for 'Departure,' a fantasy drama series.
Emma had taken Wade's advice to heart, nodding in agreement. "Wade's spot-on. An actor should cherish their reputation, build their brand. 'Departure' might have a hefty paycheck and a decent plot, but it's not our top priority. We've got a pile of new movie scripts, and a fair share are mysteries, but 'Fragments of Truth'? That's a masterpiece in the genre. Let's keep an eye out for something different."
"I'll think about it after we wrap. I need to head back to Northfield, take a few days off to recharge," Allison mused.
"Sounds good."
"And Emma, once we're done with the film, you're taking a break too. You've been working nonstop by my side, and you deserve it. Go have some fun with your boyfriend or something."
Emma's cheeks flushed with a hint of red. "I'm not planning on dating. Actually, I want to visit my grandma back home."
Allison knew about Emma's close bond with her grandmother, who had undergone heart surgery a couple of years back and wasn't in the best of health. "You got enough money for the trip? If not, I can lend you some."
"No worries, Allison. You pay me well enough. Grandma's doing better, anyway. My family mentioned she's been pretty spirited lately."
Allison was aware of Emma's family issues and had once said, "She's your mother, after all. Don't hold a grudge."
Emma waved it off. "I've come to terms with it. If she takes better care of Grandma, I might send her some extra cash. She gave birth to me, raised me, and we share the same blood. I've let go of the anger. It's just that I don't feel that house is home anymore."
Without pressing further, Allison had come to realize, after hearing Emma's story and reflecting on her own absurd experiences, that the world was filled with too many villains, too many driven by greed.
Who could believe a mother would try to sell her own daughter for a lump sum of cash?
It was only because Emma had fled into the night, making her way to the big city to work her way up from scratch, that she had found her current success.
The wrap for 'Fragments of Truth' was set for the end of the month.
After filming the last scene with Aaron, the crew brought out a cake to celebrate.
Allison and Aaron snapped a selfie and posted it on Twitter.
Ever since Allison had that heart-to-heart with Aaron, their dynamic seemed to shift, yet somehow stayed the same. Aaron treated her like always—a natural, easygoing friendship.
Allison figured she might have been overthinking things, creating issues where there were none.
