The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1279

But she didn't push Lysander away.

It wasn't that she didn't care about Callum's feelings, but she wanted to make it clear to him that pining for her was meaningless.

Thalassa was brooding when out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a pair of piercing, deep-set eyes. She tried to look away, but Lysander's icy gaze pulled her back.

Their eyes met.

His eyes seemed to swirl with a blizzard, threatening to consume her very soul.

Thalassa's heart pounded like a drum inside her chest. What had she done now to upset him?

Locked in a stare with Lysander, her heart racing, she worried he might lose it on the boat. When he lost his cool, it was a disaster.

"Look! There's a bird diving for fish—it's fascinating! It can swim and even dive underwater for several minutes without coming up," Evelyn suddenly exclaimed, pointing excitedly at the surface of the lake.

Evelyn's voice broke through Thalassa's tension and embarrassment. She quickly turned to Evelyn with a smile and said, "Indeed. There are so many wonders in the world that we've yet to see. We should really get out travelling more and explore the world."

"I'm not getting any younger, and there's not much time left to wander," Evelyn sighed softly.

Her words sent a shiver through Thalassa. She always feared Evelyn’s morose talk, worried she might do something rash—that's why she had brought her on this trip.

And yet here was Evelyn, sounding downcast again.

Thalassa's cheeks turned pale with concern.

How she wished she could return to her mother's side to hug her and ease her worries.
