The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1283

Yesterday, the hotel staff were compliant when Lysander rang them up, requesting a change of bed sheets.

So why was it that today she got the cold shoulder when she made the call?

“It was different yesterday,” the front desk clerk replied in a tone that was as dry as overcooked turkey.

"How is it any different?" Thalassa pressed on, her frustration simmering.

“Because yesterday…” the clerk started before biting her tongue, letting out a sigh that could deflate a parade balloon, “Alright, fine. We’ll change the sheets for you this time. But do us a favor and try not to douse them then, okay?”

“This is lousy service! We’re checking out. We won’t stay at this place any longer,” Thalassa fumed, feeling the blatant disparity in treatment.

The front desk had some kind of favoritism going on. Yesterday, Lysander called and the clerk was all over it like white on rice, with the staff showing up to change the sheets in a heartbeat.

But today, they treated her like she was asking for the moon when she called.

“You’re welcome to check out. A gentleman has been eager to move in,” the clerk said with a tone that suggested they had been waiting for them to leave.

Thalassa was stunned. Were they really waiting for them to vacate the room?

Was this mysterious gentleman Lysander?

After all, he had stayed in this room just the day before, and she had asked him to leave today.

Was Lysander trying to push her out so he could book the room and have a reason to kick Evelyn out?

Thalassa felt a bitter sting in her chest, as if her heart was being brined in saltwater.

She wanted to protect her mother, yet Lysander seemed intent on rubbing salt in her wounds, wanting to drive her mother away.

And to think she had believed Lysander was trying to help her reason with Evelyn?

She realized he didn’t care about her feelings or her mother’s at all.
