Thalassa thought that the joy of being with her kids wouldn’t last for long.
Once Fitch reported to Lysander that the children were missing, he'd come looking for them, for sure.
But to Thalassa’s surprise, things didn't turn out that way. The children had been staying at Star Harbor Villa with her for several days now. During this time, it was Evelyn who drove them to and from school, everything proceeding as smoothly as if Lysander didn’t know they were gone.
This situation was unnervingly abnormal.
Lysander hadn't noticed the kids were missing?
Impossible!
It might be understandable not to notice for a few hours, but now it had been days.
And Lysander hadn't come looking.
Nor had he called her.
Thalassa found the situation increasingly suspicious. The more smooth things were, the more on edge she felt, like the eerie calm before a storm.
But seeing Evelyn so happy, Thalassa chose not to dwell on her doubts.
She let Evelyn carry on with the school runs while Thalassa got back to work.
Upon her return to the Crawley Group, Ethan said, “Thalassa, perfect timing. Come on, let's go check out the commercial shoot.”
“What commercial shoot?” Thalassa had been out of the loop for a few days.
“The new smartphone campaign,” Ethan explained. “The whole thing got put on ice after Susan's accident. They've supposedly found a new face for it, and we need to take a look. If we like what we see, we'll direct the shoot on the spot. If not, it's back to the drawing board.”
Thalassa got it. She was to visit the ad agency and oversee the commercial shoot.
But the last thing Thalassa wanted was to go there, risking a run-in with those she'd rather avoid. Besides, that place was a hotbed of drama, the very same place where Lysander had mistakenly thought she tried to crush him with a prop.
